What writers say about writing
With next year's focus on writing I wanted to take some time to really explore good writing and practical ways to teach it. I found these quotes from famous writers about writing to be very informative and something to share with students.

Summary Writing
I've believe I've already shared with you a formula for summary writing. "Somebody-Wanted-But-So-Then"
Somebody (identify the character(s)
Wanted (describe the character’s goal)
But (describe a conflict that hinders the character)
So (describe how the character reacts to the
conflict)
Then (describe the resolution of the conflict
I was excited when my daughter came home with a book summary that was pretty much the same thing. She is in first grade. Just remember, we are not in this alone:)

Entering Live Web Page into Power Point
I wanted to share a new tool I found. You can insert a live web page in your Power Point. I have been doing this with my warm ups using polleverywhere.com. You need to download the add on. Then all you have to do is his insert web page and copy and paste the link there and it shows up in real time on your Power Point. Here is the link that tells you how to do it.
